              MIRNE

THE HISTORY OF MIRNE

The history of MIRNE begins with the story of the plight of the 1994 genocide in Rwanda. People were emotionally overstitched, physically helpless, spiritually confused and latterly devasted  to say the least. What is more, survivors and executioners all, ironically, became victims at the dead-end of the scenario. There was evidently a great need for restoration of human hope, reconciliation of individual souls and subsequent rescuer of the darkened future. MIRNE was therefore, initiated as an attempt to provide hope to the hopeless in the aftermath of the genocide in Rwanda.

THE ORGIN OF MIRNE

In the midst of plight and pain of the genocide and in a search for meaning, Pastor François NKURUNZIZA got a revelatory message from the Lord in Isaiah 45:1-3 ("This is what the Lord says to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I take hold of to subdue nations before him and strip kings of the armor, to open doors before him so that gates will not be shut: I will go before you and will level the mountains; I will breake down gates of bronze and cut through bars iron. I will give the treasures of darkness, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the Lord, the God of Israel, who summons you by name.")  . This scripture bore the light for him to see the possibility and the provision of the ministry. That was in 1995.

THE GROWTH OF MIRNE

MIRNE was born when at its initial stages in 1995, it worked to help widows at Gikondo-Kigali. At that same time, MIRNE also set up a nursery school to help widows and poor families cope up with the high cost of education in public schools. That was during 1995-1998.

In 1995, MIRNE organized a one-day Unity and Reconciliation conference at Hotel des diplômates Kigali, with participants including church leaders, politicians and the civil society.

In 1996, MIRNE organised a one-day follow-up conference on unity and reconciliation, at Hotel Mille Collines with participant again coming from among church leaders, politicians, and members of the civil society.

In 1997, MIRNE organised a ten-days Unity and Reconciliation Seminar for church leaders at Scripture Union-Kacyiru, Kigali.

In 1998, members of the organising team of MIRNE went to Bujumbura-Burundi and ran a similar seminar on unity and reconciliation for church and government leaders. This seminar took a whole week; it was hosted at Scripture Union-Bujumbura.

In 1998, MIRNE planted Bethel Church in Kigali-Rwanda.

In 2002, MIRNE organised a seminar for pastors at Gikongoro-Rwanda, with the sponsorship of World Vision-Rwnda. It was attended by about 60 pastors from protestant, Evangelical, Catholic, and other churches.

MIRNE organised a leadership training for the Bethel Church through Timothy school of Ministry, and have ordained 5 elders of whom 2 are pastors, 3 deacons and 3 deaconesses.

MIRNE also organised a weekly television program titled “Signs of Time” in which Pastor François NKURUNZIZA presented teachings on the fulfilment of Biblical prophecies through current global events (what is happening on the stage of world events).  This program caught the attention of many from the public in Rwanda, Eastern Congo and Burundi.  It is very interesting to hear the pastor bring into light of Scriptures the issues such as:

  • Globalisation
  • The dilemma of Middle-East/Israel conflicts(root cause and subsequent solution)
  • Science, technology and the Bible
  • European Confederation and major global events, etc.
